This page is dedicated to the collection of The Void Images. Now, The Void is an unimaginable place of existence outside the confines of space and time. Before Runeterra existed, entities called The Watchers resided in the Void. Because the void is an unknowable nothingness, even The Watcher did not know of their own existence, nor did they understand the fabric of their reality. After existence was created by the Aspects, the light emanating from the new universe awoke The Watchers. Naturally, The Watchers were enraged by the annoying light that interrupted their peaceful slumber. However, The Watchers were too big to enter this new reality. Eventually, The Watchers created Void Rifts into Runeterra and created semi-sentient creates to gather information. They figured by gathering intelligence on this universe, The Watchers could vicariously eradiate this reality. At this time, we call these void constructs, the Voidborn.

Void Rifts
After this reality awoke the The Watchers, they created tears in the fabric of reality. They are known as Void Rifts. It is through this spaces, deep underground where The Watchers send their constructs. Of course, we call them Voidborn. Most importantly, they only seek to gather intel and further inform the Watchers how to turn our reality into oblivion. The Void images of the rifts show interconnected tunnels deep underground.

In the past, Ryze travelled to the Glacial Prison the retrieve a World Rune. Understandable, the Voidborn as attracted to the power of the World Runes. Naturally, Ryze needed to retrieve it from the horrific creature.

Events
The Void War
During 2,500 BN to 2,000 BN the Void War commenced. It began with a south eastern city called Icathia which was under the protectorate of the Shurima Empire. Icathia was desperate to gain independence. One day, an earthquake unearthed a great void rift. They saw this as an opportunity. Recklessly, Icathia unleashed the void with the intention of using it as a weapon. Icathia was instantly decimated. The Void grew and sprawled into Shurima. Several of the strongest Ascended Warrior battled to the end in order to defeat the Voidborn.
Outcome of the Void War
Ultimately, an Ascended warrior named Horok figured out how to infuse a blade with the power of the Void. Horok used his Nether Blade to slice through the roots of the rift. Two other Ascended Warriors, Sebeke and Sabake helped defeat the Voidborn which marked the end of the Void War. Below see the Void Images of the Void War notwithstanding the war did not take place within the Void.

The Rupture
While not directly Void Images, is is closely related. So, on the outskirts of Icathia, there is a large eruption that is bursting through the earth. Inside the rupture is a deep tunnel that only the foolish would dare descend. Interestingly, the rupture have allowed the discovery how to starve the void rifts. Essentially, by depriving the void rift of organic material and magic, it will cause the growth of the void rift to slow. Eventually, the void rift will even recede.

Within the Void Citizens we will showcase one image per Voidborn Champion. Afterwards, we will include a button linking to a dedicated Champion Images page. This is a Void Images summary page. Now, the Watchers reached into created void rifts. Essentially, tears into the fabric of reality. With this, the Watchers reached into the tears and sent their constructs through the void rifts. As this point, these constructs are referred to as Voidborn. Due to the Watcher’s intention to learn and destroy Runeterra, no two Voidborn are the same.
Voidborn Physiology & Sociality
Each Voidborn is unique. As the Voidborn are created and set through to Runeterra, they are young. Young Voidborn have a grey appearance and are generally flexible. As they age, they grow in intelligence and develop a dark hard and sometimes purple chitin-like exterior. Furthermore, the Voidborn operate within a social hierarchy. Some Voidborn, such as Kog’Maw are young and inferior. Others, like Rek’Sai are wild and feared by other Voidborns themselves. Lastly, a few Voidborn sit at the top of the social hierarchy such as Bel’Veth. In fact, Bel’Veth is permitted to execute other Voidborn who inconvenience her and The Watcher’s objectives.

Mount Targon is a remote area in eastern Shurima. As the name implies, it is an unimaginably towering mountain. Legend has it, the mountain was pinched up from the ground by the celestials. The same entities who created and oversee Runeterra. Its peaks are frigid and its terrain is impossible to climb. Regardless, there are determined individuals who yearn to reach its pinnacle to be afforded whatever oath they’ve subscribed to. In fact, there have been a few people who have reached Mount Targon’s peak. Sometimes they return with only a blank stare and no explanation. Some have been bestowed unearthly power with destinies beyond comprehension. Albeit, with a inhumane look to their eye. Some say, those granted with the powers of Targon were granted a boon from the aspects themselves. These recipients are said to be the embodiment of a central component of humanity. They are tasked to promote and fulfill these roles on behalf of humanity. For example, the Aspect of War, or Aspect of Justice. For most, Mount Targon is simply a legend.

Ring of the Mountain
These low lands around Mount Targon are essential to the Rakkor tribe. During the spring a summer there, resources are plentiful. The Rakkor tribe herd their animals to graze, they grow crops, and forage the land. Surprisingly, the flora and fauna thrive on the steep terrain. Also, the incredible shapes in the mountainside reinforce the divine intervention that created Mount Targon.

Upper Slopes
The peaks of Mount Targon are unnaturally unforgiving. The conditions are unbearable to even the most proficient climber. Mount Targon is unique. The mountain is so huge, constant avalanches, blizzards, and frigid weather are commonplace. Obviously, the Upper Slopes are an eternal winter. Furthermore, several pathways exist, each granting a radically different experience, as if another place entirely. Indeed, the air is so thin, a simplest breath of air becomes the most arduous tasks one can image. Simply put, most die trying to climb Mount Targon, unfortunately.

These gateways, or thresholds, function similar to a checkpoint. They symbolize the tribes milestone. It marks the end of the phase in the Rakkor’s migration. Additionally, farewell ceremonies for those commencing the climb to Mount Targon’s peak take place at Ancient Gateways. Interestingly, the archaic metallic gateways have a beautiful shimmer to them. Riot Games published a video where the gateways can be seen in their Legends of Runeterra series on YouTube.

The Targonian mountain sides are unlike any other mountain in Runeterra. These divine carvings have unnatural and puzzling shapes and designs. Generally, the divine carvings can be seen in the upper peaks of Mount Targon. Consequently, the Targonians believe celestial creatures created this mountain. Among the Rakkor tribe, considerable speculation exists surrounding the meaning of these unusual shapes. For one, all believe they were created by the Celestials. Now, some believe the shapes in its entirety illustrate a map from another world. Whereas others believe the engravings mark a terrible period of time where man will sabotage man in a planetary war.

Among the Rakkor tribe, it is understood that ‘Rakkor’ means, ‘Tribe of the Last Sun’. Nevertheless, this tribe has been living in Targon for centuries. They are a devout and resilient group. Several skilled artisans and warrior call this tribe family. Honestly, the Rakkor are a humble group. They worship the sun and live as pilgrims. Notable champions of the Rakkor are, Pantheon, Leona, and Diana. Tribe members often travel around like pilgrims between solstices to ensure they remain in the grace of the sun.

Mount Targon
It is believed the celestials, also known as the Aspects, pinched the Earth and pulled up with it, turf, lakes, and all. The celestials pulled up the ground so high, the peak of this mountain reaches the stars. Apparently, every few millennia, the celestials will use the body of a climber to play into their role as an aspect. These beings are known as Aspect Hosts. Supposedly, there can only be one aspect at the time. For example, the celestials designated Atreus as the Aspect of War.
In the Corrupted Universe, various champions of Targon and Shurima have been corrupted. In this alternative timeline, the Aspects of Targon have lost faith due to the corruption of Xolaani.
Thousands of years ago, this land was a part of greater Shurima. These Ixtal images will show the current and secluded culture of this jungle. Now, Ixtal was one of the first countries to gain independent from Shurima. Naturally, Ixtal thriving, gave rise and major influence to many other cultures such as the Buhru and the the Blessed Isles. In fact, there is evidence Ixtal contributed to the creation of the first Sun Disc. Unfortunately, the Void Rift crushed Ixtal. Later on, so did the Rune Wars. At this point, Ixtal had endured tremendous losses. The Ixtali withdrew deep into the jungle. They double downed on their elemental magic while remaining isolated from all outside influences. Ixtal is shrouded in mystery. Even the mighty elemental drake that reside here remain undiscovered. What’s more, Noxus is slowly encroaching upon Ixtali territory from the north.

Shadow Isles
The Shadow Isles images depict a period of time thousands of years after its origins. This region used to be known as the Blessed Isles a long time ago. An unfortunate turn of events involving King Viego engulfed this large island with an ominous mist. This dark mist permeated the entire country. It is a supernatural thick fog that consumes the souls of any thing with the slightest amount of sentience. After the soul is consumed, the body becomes controllable by Viego. Unsurprisingly, the souls now follow Viego as he ventures out to finds shards scattered throughout Runeterra. He belives these shards are the key to bringing his deceased wife back to Runeterra. Until then, the Shadow Isles is ruled by King Viego.

Nonetheless, any mortal who steps foot on the Shadow Isles will attract the Lost. The demeanor of the attracted spirit will depend on disposition of the mortal. While Bandle City is incredibly light on details, this page contains several Bandle City images.
Bandle City is a magical realm connected to Runeterra. The city is accessed through portals. This city is home to the Yordle race. Interestingly, the portals only open under certain conditions. Therefore, non-Yordles rarely find opportunities to access this realm. Still, there have been a handful of visitors who’ve returned to explain what they’ve seen. Although, none seem to agree entirely on what they’ve witness. From what we can gather, Bandle City contains boundless magic. Upon entering, the senses are overloaded. The sun shines bright gold all day. The water is crystal clear. Food and drink are palatable beyond imagination.
Interestingly, time flows differently in Bandle City. While Yordles in Runeterra age incredible gracefully, the opposite is true for visitors in Bandle City. Those who return report being lost in a dream-like state and appear to have aged unkindly.

Portals to Bandle City
The portals can be accessed by Yordles. Those who are not native to Bandle City do not know the conditions which produce portals. For example, one portal that leads to a mysterious underwater cavern shows its accessibility during the low tide. At this time, engravings surrounding the portal can be seen. Yordles use particular hand gestures alongside the inscriptions to access the portal.
Therefore, Runeterrans almost certainly cannot read or wrote the language of Yordles. If they could, there is a chance they could produce Bandle City gateways.
Some locations in Bandle City attract a lot of magic. In the spirit realm, the concentration of magic imposes interesting effects to the nearby plants. Notice the before an after effect on the tree in the Bandle City images below.

Zaun generally is a dirty unkempt undercity. The Zaun images included here will illustrate this point. It is directly below Piltover. Once Piltover and Zaun were on city. There was an environmental disaster after Zaun cleared a long thin strip of land with explosives. Several districts fell into fissures. The wealthiest groups built up along the cliffside. Those less fortunate found shelter deep underground. Sadly, green poisonous gasses permeate Zaun. And although crime, and poor environmental conditions are ever present, the culture of Zaun thrives. The growth of Piltover has allowed Zaun to grow in tandem in its own unique way. Engineers specializing in the volatile Chemtech trade thrive here. Illicit and unethical business practices aren’t forbidden here, unlike Piltover. Essentially, Zaun and Piltover benefit from their symbiotic relationship. This is Zuretta, a desert settlement in Northern Shurima. In this Shurima image, you can see its ruler, Hierophant Hadiya Nedjem. She belives she is the, the so called daughter, direct descendent of Setaka. Setaka is the Ancient Queen of the Ascended Host. So, she was one of the first ascended who won many battles wielding the Chalicar. A weapon created by the celestials from Mount Targon.
Marrowmark a trader settlement in southern Shurima. It was built within the ribcage of an ancient desert behemoth. It is said that anything under the sun can be found in the bazaars of Marrowmark, for the right price. A translator in Marrowmark uncovered a scroll which wrote of a ancient terror who devoured Shurimans. This is a reference to the Void Burrower, Rek’Sai. Within the Shurima images you will see the coarse landscape of this village. Shurimans must make do with what they have. Life is not easy here.

League of Legends Sketches
The following are early Shuriman explorative sketches for League of Legends from 2013. Look at the Shurima Images detailing the landscape and culture. Without a doubt, Shurima in inspired by Egyptian culture.
As one would expect, the Shuriman desert is inhospitable. From the overbearing heat to dangerous creatures. Still, those brave enough to wander into the deserts may find salt deposits and beautiful crystals hiding beneath the sand.
This concept art from 2009 illustrates the interior of an abandoned temple. At the center lies an unusual contraption. The concept artist, Jayison Devadas labelled it, ‘Zilean Forgotten Guardian’. Perhaps the buried contraption has dormant time travel technology.
It appears Shurima may have a variety of Generals. For example, the General of the Dunes command the Defenders of the Sun Disc. Perhaps they venture out into the wilds. Conversely, there are general who are seen protecting the palace. Moreover, these generals are equipped with their own unique armor.
Many Shuriman soldiers are equipped in golden plated armor. It appear most of the Shuriman soldiers are male. Still, there is a female soldiers that is seen with white accents in her armor and long purple dreadlocks. The Defenders of the Sun Disc are soldiers who aim to protect and preserve the Shurima’s sands and the Sun Disc.
There are a number of Chronomancers in Shurima and Icathia. These mages are skilled in time manipulation. Zilean is a notable mage who has taken on numerous disciples to help prevent the atrocity that occurred in Icathia.
In the Corrupted Universe, various champions of Targon and Shurima have been corrupted. In this alternative timeline, the ascended God-warriors have been corrupted by the void. The Sun Disc is not longer worshipped and senseless bloodshed is rampant.
