Childhood

When Captain Arrika was a child, the experience for herself the havoc Noxus was capable of. Noxians destroyed her home. At that point, Captain Arrika may have been an orphan because she vowed to never allow a Noxian to make child orphaned again. ^[1]

Career

Captain Arrika was enlisted into the Demacian military. ^[1] Subsequently, she states it is now her duty to protect the citizens of Demacia. ^[8] Within her role as a captain, Arrika is rather strict. ^[14]

Military Rank

Captain Arrika ranks higher than recruits, Vanguard Bannermen ^[7] and Dauntless Vanguard squires. ^[15]

Personality

Much of her actions link back to Demacia's best interest. ^[4]

Attitude

Generally, Captain Arrika has a hopeful attitude. Much of her statements are positive, although predicated on work ethic. ^[4]

In contrast, she has a pretty sobering perspective on new enthusiastic recruits, such as Cithria. ^[13]

Captain Arrika, likely has a chip on her shoulder for the loss of her home has a child. However, her strong will encourages her to make the best of what has happened. ^[4]

Beliefs

Captain Arrika believes fighting can bring about survival ^[2] Even still, she thinks one strong heart can alter the direction of an entire nation. ^[3] Another belief she holds is persistence will bring about victory. ^[5]

Appreciations

The Dauntless solider appreciates Demacia and protecting vulnerable children. ^[1]

Also, she appreciate Cithria of Bold's commitment to Demacia. ^[16]

Disinterests

Captain Arrika is not a fan of darkness. The darkness likely refers to monsters from the Harrowing because this statement was in response to Lucian request to push back the darkness. ^[10] Similarly, Captain Arrika is not a fan of half-dragons, such as Shyvana. [11]

Criticisms

The Dauntless Vanguard captain has strong reservations about half-dragon Shyvana. The notes Prince Jarvan IV may trust her but she can see through it. [11]

Strategies

Captain Arrika has commanded Vanguard Bannerman to lift the Demacian standard up in the air for others to see. ^[7] Again while on the battlefield, Captain Arrika feels the Dauntless Vanguard could always use more soldiers on the the field. ^[15]

While in combat, the captain states members of the Dauntless Vanguard fight until their last breath. For combat, Captain Arrika has a sword. She mentions that she will not hesitate to use it in battle. ^[17]

Awareness

Captain Arrika is aware of Noxus, being a Demacian soldier, and witnessing the atrocity they committed to her home. ^[1]

She is quite aware she cannot recover what has been lost from the past. ^[4]

Culture

Captain Arrika is loyal to Demacia because she promised to never let Noxians step foot on Demacian soil since being enlisted into the Demacian military. ^[1]

Relationships

Captain Arrika was overseeing Cithria when she was a new recruit. The captain had a strict demeanor with Cithria, especially considering Cithria was quite keen. ^[13] Furthermore, Arrika is quite hasty with Cithria, which is natural considering she is her superior. ^[14]

When Cithria becomes a Vanguard squire she appears less enthusiastic. As well, Arrika seems more tame and mentions they could always use more soldiers on the field. ^[15]

Later on, as Cithria becomes known as Cithria the Bold, Arrika thanks her for her commitment to service. ^[16]

Both Garen and Captain Arrika are members of the Dauntless Vanguard.

Upon interaction, Garen mentioned to her that, "We fight for those who cannot" and she replied, "It is our duty and our honor". ^[8]

Lucian requested the captain to "Push back the darkness!" and the captain responded, "With all that I do". They are most likely referring to monsters from the harrowing. ^[10]

Captain Arrika is not of Shyvana. Upon interacting, the captain notes that, notwithstanding Prince Jarvan IV trusts Shyvana, she herself does not. However, Shyvana defends herself as explains all that matters is she too is a soldier. ^[11]

Moreover, she does not agree Shyvana should be considered a true human. Regarding that, she accused Shyvana at pretending to be a human. Again, Shyvana contends she is indeed half human and a Demacian.

Who Is Cithria

Cithria is a minor character in the universe of Runeterra. Still, she is one of the most developed minor characters. Cithria is a citizen of Demacia. She was born in a small village called Cloudfield just east of of City of Demacia. As she grew, she enlisted with the City of Demacia’s military with the hopes of one day joining the Dauntless Vanguard. Eventually, Cithria earned a position in the Dauntless Vanguard. Impressively, she has earned the respect of other notable Dauntless Vanguard members such as Garen.

It’s possible Riot featured Cithria’s image for the Riot MMO for two reasons.

1. Maybe the art for Cithria fits the theme the developers have in mind the early experience of the upcoming MMO. For example, if you were to create a character for the first time we might appear as Cithria here. A young, weak, inexperienced character within a large city vying for power and respect. That theme is common with MMORPG at the beginning and that theme is relatively identical to Cithria’s storyline
   
2. It’s possible Cithria is meant to be an integral part of the new player experience. Acting as a friend to help narrate the storyline. Similar to Gary developing the story for Ash in original Pokemon Gameboy series. Since the player will eventually attain power and respect through playing the game, so does Cithria due to her lore.

Cithria’s Childhood

When Cithria was young, she enjoyed spending her time playing Tellstones with her father. Cithria’s father taught her use strategy to win her battles, and not from pure effort alone. For example, he taught her to exploit her opponent’s weakness. Further, that no opponent is undefeatable. And watching her mother sharpening the blade of her sword. Cithria being the self-motivated girl she was, eventually surpassed her Father at Tellstones. Lastly, during Cithria’s childhood she participated as a flower bearers in Cloudfield’s annual spring festival the Yellow Spring Festival. The name is a reference to a beautiful blooming yellow pain relieving flower called dormisroot blossoms throughout the highlands of Demacia.

After learning how to strategize from her father, and defeating him, Cithria cheers, “All Hail to Cithria the Bold, hero of Demacia”. Cithria herself here references a title that she will take on in the years to come. Between the strategies learned from her father and the bedtime stories of the heroes of Demacia, Cithria resonated with defending Demacia. When Cithria become of age to join the military, she traveled west to the City of Demacia to enlist.

Cithria’s Military Career

In her early years in the military, Cithria held a position as a soldier. She was placed at the East Wall by the leader of the Ninth Battalion, Captain Eldran. Interestingly, Cithria was the best Tellstone player in her Battalion. While Cithria was stationed at the East Wall, she observed and endured traumatic events as a solider that even her comrades couldn’t tolerate. Ultimately, these experiences would give her the willpower she’d need later on to help protect Demacia from war.

After some time as a soldier, Cithria applied to become a member of the Dauntless Vanguard. Now, one is not guaranteed a spot in this prestigious, and elite group of Demacian military. The day of her training, Cithria was working on some tasks as a solider before being approached by her Dauntless Vanguard proctor. It was Proctor-Corporal Pell would oversee her testing. Pell gave permission for Cithria to leave her duties and grab some supper before he test later that day.

While on her lunch break before training she noticed tents stationed with several members of the Dauntless Vanguard. Many of whom are playing games of Tellstones atop tree stumps with blankets as cover.
