The former executive producer, Greg Street stated the Riot MMO will be canon lore. We are not surprised because the game studio has been investing heavily into its narration team over the past few years likely to fully utilize their Runeterra intellectual property. This upcoming MMO will likely be Riot’s biggest video game endeavor to date. Ultimately, the world of Runeterra fits perfectly into a fantasy based MMOPRG.
When the Riot Games website published their MMO Recruit/Hiring page with a young Cithria, it gave the impression that the Riot MMO might include Legends of Runeterra characters at least as NPCs.
The current locations in Runeterra are well known. It is important to note that the current areas listed in locations above does not encompass all of Runeterra. Riot has yet to fully unveil entire landscape.
Nerd out on the storytelling that Runeterra has to offer. We are confident the lore from Runeterra will be used for the this MMORPG. Imagine how much more fun the MMORPG would be with a PhD in Runeterra history.
Greg Street made a comment about Champions is the Riot MMO. He basically said he wants to respect Champions in the Riot MMO. The team will not throw in a Champion as a raid boss simply because they ran out of ideas.
The above comment is contrary to what many fans assume. They assume, and probably hope Garen will the first NPC you run into in Demacia. There are comments with strong assumptions that champions will be main quest givers and ever present. Now champions are limited. The Riot MMO would exhaust their ideas if they blew all of their minor NPCs such as quest givers only champions.
