Mark Merrill Riot MMO Time Investment
During Marc Merrill’s first attendance at the Esports Awards he was asked to provide any hints or excitement about the Riot MMO in the near or distant future.
Mark stated the Riot MMO is the project he is most invested in and spends the most time on. Knowing Marc Merrill is personally stepping in to help the project is a good sign. He has done this before, for example, Marc worked at the executive producer for Arcane, Riot’s TV series.
Furthermore, on November 29th, 2023 we discovered Marc Merrill has taken on the role of Riot Games first Chief Product Officer.

Marc is incredibly well suited to drive this improved orientation and focus on behalf of players. He helped build this place from the ground up, and he’s been hands-on in making our mission a reality for years.

In short, Marc Merrill is incredibly hands on with the various products at Riot Games. More now than ever since his new position as CPO, overseeing all the products at Riot Games. And in fact, the Riot MMO appears to be getting to most attention from the co-founder, CPO.
Riot Games Attention to Detail
Further on in the interview Marc explains, not withstanding the difficulty of building out Riot Games first MMORPG, ‘they are trying to do it right‘. This sentiment has echoed Riot Games for quite some time now. We’ve seen they have a strong attention to detail when it comes to making games.
As well, he adds there is a lot of work to be done. What’s more is the complexity for building the League of Legends MMO is very high. To make it even more challenging he says, “There is an incredibly high bar”. In other words, the executive and development team both have monumentally high standards as does the fanbase.
