Hefty promises were made for League of Legends while Riot Games closed up their offices for the year-end. League of Legends game Director Pu Liu (aka: RiotPupulasers) posted a series of tweets that could have wide ranging implications on League of Legends and possibly the entire IP (intellectual property)
In the following thread, the final point sparked a ton of conversation within the community.
If you want to know how this might impact the Riot MMO or Project F, skip down below.
Riot Games 2024 Releases
This statement by Pu Liu is equally ambitious as it is ambiguous. Still, there are a number of known events and projects Riot Games is working on. Read on for what we think 2024 might include.
Bandle Tale Early 2024
Riot Forge‘s latest upcoming game is Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story. It is a farm-life simulator based on Bandle City. We don’t know when in 2024 the game will be released. Nonetheless, there has been a lot of speculation Bandle Tale could be released in early 2024. This is based on the Riot Forge social media profiles ramping up their posts. Additionally, Song of Nunu released only a few short months after they began teasing more consistently.
Project L Beta Soon?
The Riot Games arcane fighter may have been in production as early as 2016. In this year, co-founders Tom and Tony Cannon published a letter stated Radiant Entertainment had been acquired by Riot Games. Their fighting game, Rising Thunder came to a close on March 8, 2016. Now, Project L has been ramping up its publicity with dev diaries, reveal trailers, expos and more. Therefore, potentially eight years (2016 – 2024) to produce a beta seems reasonable.
15-Year Anniversary Livestream
Fans were excited to tune into the 10-Year Anniversary livestream on October 15, 2019. The video revealed exciting announcements such as, Wild Rift, VALORANT (known then as Project A), Project F, and updates like League preseason changes.
Arcane Season 2 Leak
In October of 2023, an image at the Tencent V Vision conference was leaked. The image revealed a presentation with Arcane Season 2 Winter 2024 release on the screen. With Arcane being a TV series and not League of Legends, this is something Pu Liu could have had in mind.
Project F Announcement
The last Riot Games Anniversary Livestream showcased a brief clip of early Project F footage. This was in October 2019. Development of Project F could easily have began a year prior. Therefore, with 2024 on the horizon, there certainly has been enough time for the possibility of an official announcement soon.
Riot Games 2025 Releases
2025 Will Change League Forever
Pi Liu
The community has speculated on many things. Two common suggestions have been
- A new permanent game mode
- A PvP story mode
If a new PvP story mode were released it would describe Project F quite closely. For example, in Project F, players will maneuver the Champions from League of Legends. Because Project F appears to be developing as a PvE ARPG with co-op, once can safety presume it would be story-mode.
As well, there have been some speculation that the Riot Client Social Visibility feature would have some of these future games in mind, such as Project F.
Admittedly, there are several additions Riot Games could make that would consider League as changed forever. If we receive any news, we will update this page.
Summary
We believe Riot Games 2024 may include:
- Bandle Tale from Riot Forge
- A free Project L open beta
- The 15 Year Anniversary Livestream in October
- Arcane Season 2 release
- Project F Official Announcement
