New Riot Games R&D Game

There could be a new Riot Games R&D game on the horizon. If so, this could be their fifth in-house R&D (research and development) project we know of. After Alan Moore, former Executive Producer for League of Legends: Wild Rift left his role, we couldn’t help but notice his new mysterious position.

As you can see, Alan Moore has held his position as the Executive Producer and Senior Producer for an unannounced R&D game since July 2023. This just might be the newest incoming addition to the League of Legends IP.

Let’s step back for a moment and explain why this discovery suggests a new R&D project and not one of the others we cover.

A New Executive Producer

As it stands, each Riot Games R&D game already has an Executive Producer.

One of our Discord members made an insightful comment:

There’s probably a bunch of ideas being thrown around… some grow, some not.

Therefore, it’s possible there could be several more R&D projects in the works as opposed to just four or five. Moreover, some teams could be throwing around numerous ideas instead of working on a particular project. Nonetheless, what seems to be a dedicated Executive Producer for a unannounced project does hint at a game with a little more substance.

So, where does Alan Moore fit in? Well, while it is possible a project could have a second Executive Producer, that not has not been common practice at Riot Games. As seen on Riot’s Leadership page, all projects only have one Executive Producer.

Waiting for Riot R&D Games

We’re excited to hear wind of any Riot R&D game. No doubt future details for this in-development game would be far out. In addition, research and development projects are often scrapped.

Still, we think it’s a new project. If history serves, you’ll notice the Executive Producer position is one of the earliest roles commissioned in Riot’s R&D projects.
