The very next day after Greg Street officially revealed the upcoming Riot MMO, he made another tweet. At that time, Greg Street was the Game Director for the upcoming MMO. Greg confirmed Riot will be hiring for the unpublished MMO team. Furthermore, he added Riot is serious about hiring a good team because this MMO will be no small project. Their team is categorized as research and development. Then he recommended to those who’re interested to apply on Riot’s official job webpage.
If you’re interested in reading about the official announcement, we made a post expanding on what Greg said yesterday.
Greg Street Tweet (2/3) on Riot MMO Hiring
Next, Greg went on to tweet about more roles being available in January 2021. We’re excited to hear Greg say that more job posting will be added over time. As the previous tweet said, it’s just starting off small for now. Likely because the directors need to establish the direction of the game first.
I was impressed to read Greg say industry veterans don’t necessarily need to wait for job posting to arrive. They could directly message Greg Street with what they can offer via Twitter on LinkedIn.
From this tweet, we can look forward to browsing which job postings go live in January. Hopefully the job listings can give us further details on the game. For example, a job posting will need to be specific enough to request specific experience. Perhaps Riot will request experience categories that will provide insight to the direction of the game.
Riot might ask for applicants with the following experience
- Specific game engine
- Particular camera angle
- Certain combat style
- Building game features (dungeons, quests, etc.)
Any job requirements will surely give us a clue to the direction they want to take this game.
Tweet (3/3) on Hiring
Greg’s last tweet is asking fans to be patient. His goal is to manage expectations, while reminding us the team is hard at work. He reiterates every aspect including, hiring and development will take time.
Perhaps Greg could be referring to player feedback among other things when he says ‘every aspect’. After all, Riot is announcing this MMO over Twitter. Greg has already been replying to fans’ questions on Twitter too. Riot could have announced the MMO years later at a gaming convention and it wouldn’t have seemed out of place. Let’s hope the Riot MMO team continues to keep communication in this fashion with fans. With patience, top-tier developers, and open feedback, we are looking to have the of the greatest MMOs of the decade.
Lastly, Greg closes out by saying Riot does not want to disappoint us. If anything, the team hopes to exceed our expectations, just like many things ‘Riot’

@lolWolfer asked Greg, “A big question for me and some of my friends have is, is it going to be a tab target or action combat mmo?”
Greg Street Responds
My answer to a lot of these questions is which do you prefer?
That is a great response because it acknowledges the important of player feedback. As of December 18, 2020 the game is so early in development, Greg may not know himself. Nonetheless, his response suggests the decision is largely up to the players.
@TheranTemere asks, “So, to confirm, we shouldn’t expect any updates on it for the next few years?”

There won’t be much news, no. it is already a little unusual that you all know about the game though, so we’ll see how much we share as we go along.
It is absolutely true that the fanbase isn’t usually aware of an upcoming AAA title so early on. There are some exceptions, such as Ashes of Creation. Still, Greg is managing our expectations but telling us there won’t be much info soon. Meanwhile he’s still leaving it up in the air. This balance is ideal. The developers need to prioritize their efforts on coordinating and developing the game. Less so on social media interaction.

Most of our office is WFH [work from home] and we hired a lot of Rioters who have never seen our main campus 🙁
The takeaway here is, when Riot get’s back to physical work space, the team’s collaboration and efficiency will increase. Basically, things are looking up for the Riot MMO.
